Job description

The Director of Operations is a member of the highly collaborative senior staff that reports to the Senior Vice Chancellor for Strategy, Diversity and Community Engagement. The Director of Operations will direct, coordinate, and manage the operations of the Division of Diversity, Inclusion and Community Engagement, and provide support to both the Senior Vice Chancellor and Vice Chancellor for Governmental and External Affairs on building and managing relationships with key constituencies and stakeholders across New Jersey, the Philadelphia Metropolitan region and Washington, D.C.

The position requires outstanding organizational, communication, and leadership skills and an ability to develop innovative solutions that allow the Division leadership and staff to achieve campus goals for diversity, equity and inclusion and community engagement. The Director will also be responsible for oversight in managing complex events and myriad of division specific campus-wide programming that support the mission and the vision of the Division. The director of operations will work closely with Division leadership and senior staff to strategize and develop policies, plans and systems that will allow the Division to run efficiently and effectively, increase the visibility and deepen the impact of diversity, equity, inclusion, and community engagement both internally and externally.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and five or more years of progressive responsibility in a leadership role in management or operations in education, business or nonprofit management or a related field.

Work Arrangement

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System.
