The City of O'Fallon, MO is looking to hire a full time Maintenance Mechanic . Are you looking for a position where you'll build on your knowledge of the maintenance and repair of the City's complex hydraulic, mechanical and electrical equipment? We are looking to hire someone with experience of general mechanical equipment and maintenance work. As part of our Water and Sewer Department , you will be responsible for maintenance and repairs of the city's SCADA systems, water treatment plant, wastewater treatment plant water wells and sewer pump stations.
MAJOR DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Supports 24/7 operations
- Repairs, overhauls, installs, tests, and inspects hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and SCADA systems at City facilities
- Performs preventative and predictive maintenance on water and sewer facilities
- Identifies equipment deficiencies and performs diagnostic testing
- Analyzes, isolates faults, maintains and repairs motor control panels and other electrical control equipment
- Operates hand and machine tools to specified tolerances
- Performs trouble shooting on a variety of electrical and electromechanical equipment to locate and diagnose source of trouble including working on 220V and 480V electric systems
- Uses test equipment such as megohmmeter, volt-ohms meter, and other pneumatic and electronic control elements.
- Maintains and installs pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic and computer-based control systems. Lubricates equipment
- Troubleshoots to detect flaws or defects in mechanical equipment
- Inspects and repairs instrumentation sensors, transducers, transmitters, programmable logic controllers (PLC's), control wiring, motor control panels, and variable frequency drives (VFD's)
- Performs welding and cutting; repairs and installs process piping
- Performs maintenance on grounds and building structures
- Monitors and makes adjustments to SCADA systems.
- Operates a variety of machinery and heavy equipment such as skid steer, wheel loader, crain, vacuum/Jet truck, and backhoe.
- Responds to and resolves customer complaints as needed.
- Assists in purchasing parts, tools, and safety equipment.
- Cleans and maintains facilities, buildings, lagoons, and grounds.
- Performs record keeping and data entry. Records daily reading of equipment and processes.
- Occasionally oversees crew activities in the absence of Supervisor.
- Assist other city crews as needed
- Assist in Asset Management and Maintenance Programs
- Responds to emergency situations.
- Assists with snow removal.
- Performs related duties and additional work as assigned by supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:
- Considerable knowledge of general mechanical equipment maintenance work
- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of pumping processes and equipment
- Working knowledge of pneumatic, electrical, hydraulic and electronic control equipment with emphasis on calibration and analysis
- Skill in the repair of SCADA equipment
- Knowledge and understand wiring diagrams and blueprints of electrical installations
- Knowledge of safety requirements working with 220V and 480V electrical equipment
- Knowledge of the maintenance and repair of municipal water and wastewater systems.
- Knowledge of the operation and preventive maintenance of a variety of equipment.
- Knowledge of small engine repair and maintenance.
- Skill in the operation of assigned specialized equipment.
- Skill in the use of hand and power tools.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skill in the use of computers and mobile devices.
