Job description
TIME FRAME:
April 24 - May 6th (including all event days; 10 days)
OR
JAZZ FEST EVENT DAYS ONLY April 25th- 28th, May 5-8th (8 Days)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist the Cultural Exchange Pavilion (CEP) Coordinator and the CEP Administrator with daily operations at the CEP, including demonstrations, live performances and exhibits.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Facilitate set-up of demonstrators’ area on set-up and event days.
- Run errands as needed to procure materials and supplies on set-up and event days.
- Circulate through the CEP and ensure integrity of displays and well being of demonstrators.
- During the event, assist CEP demonstrators and musicians as instructed by the CEP Coordinator.
- Provide information to public about CEP programming.
- Assist in escorting artists/musicians to/from the Cultural Exchange Pavilion.
- Assist in managing artists’ catering and dressing rooms, and assist with CEP hospitality area.
- Assist in supervising volunteer staffing; keep other staff aware of status of volunteer dispersal.
- Notify CEP Coordinator of any important situations that may arise during the event.
- Help pack and secure display items at the end of the day on first Sunday.
- Implement any changes necessary between Week One and Week Two.
- Perform all other work-related duties, as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive issues.
- Must attend and complete any required training.
- Any document, computer program, design or other intellectual property created for the Jazz Festival belongs to the Jazz Festival and must be given to the Festival through your supervisor or department head at the end of each production year, or upon request.
- Must complete all required Feedback Forms and Final reports
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED
- Fluency in Spanish and English preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills required to interact with artists, volunteers, construction crew, and other Festival staff.
- Festival/special event production experience.
- Must be comfortable using such light tools as screw gun and staple gun.
- Experience with multicultural settings.
- Endurance for long hours in an active, stressful production setting with the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Active position requires some light lifting and ability to traverse field at a rapid pace.
