NV5 is seeking a full-time Geomatics Technician , for our  Cary, NC office. This position will assist survey and SUE groups in the southeast US and elsewhere if applicable. Project locations will be focused in North Carolina, but assignments outside of that are to be expected. Short-term, short-range travel will occasionally be required. Primary duties will include professional SUE services, CADD assistance, and survey field and office operations.

The most frequent and essential work activities include:

• Participate in all phases of utility services projects.
• Provide quality control and quality assurance on utility services deliverables.
• Assist locally and inter-office with CADD challenges on multiple platforms.
• Maintain and distribute CADD templates for SUE deliverables.
• Support local and regional field and office survey efforts.

• High School Diploma
• 3+ years of previous survey or utility services related work experience
• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver's license prior to employment
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation/OpenRoads
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associates or Bachelor’s degree
• One year experience with ArcGIS, and/or QGIS software
• 5+ years of previous survey or utility services related work experience
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation/OpenRoads
• Aptitude for problem-solving and attention to detail

• Work will be balanced between an office setting and field setting with opportunities to be exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
• Work will be primarily working with fingers by picking, pinching, typing and grasping often with repetitive motion.
• Must have visual acuity for viewing a computer screen, the ability to talk, hear and sit for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Weekend and overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be required.
• Additional physical duties may be required as necessary.
