Job description
Kluh Jewelers is looking for a talented, organized professional to join our team as a Goldsmith/Bench Jeweler for our Lacey, Washington store. Our ideal candidate will have 1+ years’ experience and training as a bench jeweler but we are open to interviewing recent graduates from the Portland Jewelry Academy, New Approach School for Jewelers, or similar jewelry schools. This person will work in a well-equipped shop within the Kluh Jewelers retail store. This position has great opportunities for growth and provides an easy way to continue to grow into a seasoned jeweler.

Responsibilities:
The Bench Jeweler is responsible for miscellaneous jewelry repair with varying levels of complexity (i.e., soldering, re-tipping, re-pronging, re-shanking, laser welding, applying surface finishes, etc.) in all precious metal types; setting various size and shape stones using all setting techniques; hand fabrication may be performed based on experience. You will be asked to provide expert guidance about repair questions and communicate with staff members about repair statuses. Tasks are always done with the customer’s best interest in mind.
Responsibilities Include:
- Perform the needed repairs to each customer’s order as instructed.
- Produce high-quality jewelry repairs while maintaining an above-average production rate and controlling company assets.
- Understand and maintain proper and efficient levels of the shop and minor repair supplies (gemstones, metals, tools, safety equipment, etc.) as needed to complete jobs and maintain a full-service shop.
- Meet daily processing timelines and quotas.
- Provide ongoing guidance and training to store personnel on how to properly accept jewelry repairs.
- Maintain neatly organized shop and personal workspace, bench tools, and equipment.
- Constantly pursue personal and production improvement by learning more effective jeweler skills, processes, and methods.
- Maintain and use all bench tools and equipment in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.
- Adhere to product security and ensure all safety and environmental protocols are followed.
Qualifications:
Qualifications Include:
- A minimum of 1 year working independently on jewelry repair is preferred. (Qualifications must be demonstrated by performing a bench test that includes ring sizing, stone setting, gold solder repair, etc.)
- Sizing rings, up and down, working with all precious metals including Platinum, Gold, White Gold, and Silver.
- Stone setting and stone tightening skills.
- Soldering knowledge and ability to work with all metal types and solder flow temperatures.
- Laser welding experience is a plus.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and be flexible.
- Be a self-starter.
- Ability to work quickly, accurately, and independently in a fast-paced environment.
