Position Overview Under the supervision of the Vocational Development Coordinator provides vocational assessment and preparedness to residents of the Mission’s substance abuse treatment program in areas of job readiness, maintaining a work/life balance and managing finances.
Qualifications For Position Education: Minimum of Bachelors Degree, Masters Degree in education preferred
Experience: Preferred minimum three (3) years experience in vocational development via treatment, counseling, and/or educational training fields
Skills and Abilities: Active learning and listening, critical thinking, written comprehension and expression, Knowledge of interviewing methods and techniques, case management principles and methods, professional ethics standards; ability to work with varied level of educational and vocational experience and ability; Attention to detail is required
Machine, Tools and Equipment: Computer, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Electronic Health Record system
Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license
Job Specific Duties & Responsibilities Client Services - Assess client vocational and educational abilities and interests, identifying skill areas for development
- Participates as a member of the Mission’s multidisciplinary treatment team, communicating vocational strengths and weaknesses
- Conducts training and didactic groups with clients of the Mission’s substance abuse treatment program
- Tutors clients as needed
- Assist in setting client up for GED classes and testing as needed
- Opens and supervises computer lab for clients during open periods and documents clients’ time and areas of focus
- Assists clients in all phases of developing a successful employment plan in conjunction with the established treatment plans, including job search, budgeting, transportation and work schedule
- Provides employment case management services and coaching to clients
- Coordinates client employment periods and documents clients’ employment schedule including travel time to and from employment.
- Acts as a liaison for education and training services activities includes those provided by a community partner
- Acts as a liaison between the employed clients and their employers.
- Develops relationships with potential partner employers
- Updates agency records and case files as required by education/vocational and job search data
Miscellaneous - Performs other duties as assigned
Starting Rate: $21.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8a-4p

Covid-19
Rescue Mission of Trenton requires all new employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to start of employment, unless the Rescue Mission of Trenton has granted the employee a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in recession of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
