Job description

Job Summary :

The duties and responsibilities of the Dining Services Supervisor include leading a team of cooks and servers to provide high-quality food and service to our residents, inventory management, placing orders, menu preparation, preparing and serving quality food, maintaining high standards of food safety, and providing assistance with various dining functions as assigned by the Dining Services Director.

Essential Functions:

Be the secondary point of contact for dining services teammates and other departments, taking actions as necessary to address issues or concerns. This position will report to the Executive Chef. 

Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations

Ensures teammate adherence to standards and procedures of food storage, preparation, and service; equipment and department sanitation; and employee safety; Monitors and corrects safety and sanitation procedures in the kitchen

Communicate with other departments, physicians, and consultants to plan and maintain the highest quality food service

Assist with menu planning and review prior to preparation

Perform duties related to inventory management and product orders as assigned

Participate in ongoing training programs related to the job

Assists Director of Dining Services with the review of healthcare services’ resident diet information and discusses requests, changes, and inconsistencies with residents and teammates, as well as assisting with the management individual select menus for healthcare services to ensure prescribed diets are delivered to all residents (SNF only)

Assist Director of Dining Services with recruiting and hiring new teammates, as well as teammate scheduling and assignments.

Monitors and inspects the quality and consistency of the food to include food storage, food preparation, food temperatures, portion control, palatability, and attractiveness of food, and implements changes to ensure quality according to established standards.

Train all new dining teammates on policies and procedures of the kitchen and service areas as assigned.

Perform other assignments as requested.

Establish and encourage an atmosphere of optimism, warmth, and interest in residents’ activity preferences and needs.
