Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Radiation Oncology Specialist to join our team at [insert facility name]. Responsibilities:

  1. Perform radiation therapy treatments according to physician orders and established protocols.
  2. Assess and monitor patients before, during, and after radiation therapy sessions, including evaluating treatment response and managing side effects.
  3. Educate patients and their families about radiation therapy procedures, potential side effects, and self-care measures.
  4. Collaborate with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, and other members of the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  5. Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, treatment delivery, and follow-up care in electronic medical records.
  6. Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families throughout the treatment process.
  7. Monitor and maintain radiation safety protocols to ensure patient and staff safety.
  8. Participate in quality assurance activities, including equipment calibration, quality control checks, and adherence to regulatory standards.
  9. Assist in the training and supervision of radiation therapy students, interns, and new staff members.
  10. Stay current with advances in radiation oncology technology and treatment techniques through continuing education and professional development activities.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Radiation Therapy, Radiologic Technology, or related field.
  2. Current certification as a Radiation Therapist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  3. State licensure or certification as required by regulatory agencies.
  4. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Radiation Therapist in a clinical setting.
  5. Strong knowledge of radiation therapy procedures, equipment operation, and patient positioning techniques.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Commitment to providing compassionate care and maintaining patient dignity and confidentiality.
  9. Proficiency in electronic medical records and computerized treatment planning systems.
  10. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on facility policy.
