Position Overview: Are you a hands-on, highly reliable leader prepared to play a pivotal role within our management team? As the Plant HR Manager, reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources - Operations, your responsibilities include leading the HR team (2 Generalists) in steering people management and strategy at our plant, spearheading transformative initiatives, and overseeing a comprehensive array of employee-related services in Human Resources, covering staffing, employee investigations, employment documentation, job evaluations, compensation, and benefits.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: HR Leadership: - Lead the HR function at the St. George facility, providing expert guidance and executing on key HR projects.
- Directly manage the HR Generalists, ensuring optimal performance in the local HR team.
- Cultivate a collaborative culture within the HR group (plants U.S./Canada and Corporate HR).
- Execute HR programs, aligning them with corporate HR processes and programs.
- Collaborate with HR colleagues to share best practices and successes across the company, fostering peer networks.
- Continuously learn from challenges, manage personal development, and contribute to the development of HR colleagues.
Strategic Business Partnership: - Build effective relationships with leaders, balancing plant/facility needs with corporate HR guidelines.
- Provide transparent insight into work and solving business problems through the talent lens.
- Coach leaders and individual contributors at the manager level and below for mutual success.
- Partner with leadership to develop and execute strategies that 1) build leadership and technical talent, 2) engage employees and improve morale, and 3) focus on diversity and inclusion.
- Identify and leverage metrics throughout the organization to derive insights, report findings, and enhance processes and policies.
Employee Relations/Communication: - Maintain open communication and a positive employee relations environment at the plant by counseling managers and employees on human resource policies and rules.
- Lead employee investigations; Investigate, mediate, and follow up on employee concerns, adhering to progressive disciplinary procedures.
- Manage situations involving policy or contract interpretation; lead and mentor others to ensure consistent application of all such rules and policies.
- Provide fairness, encouragement, and advice, identifying training needs, counseling, and performance improvement plans.
- Develop and implement innovative solutions to personnel and/or labor relations issues affecting the plant to mitigate any legal or compliance-related risks.
- Implement and manage ongoing policies, programs, and procedures to foster understanding of and improvement in management, supervisory, or employee relations.
- Escalate risks to the HR Director, Operations when necessary.
Workforce Planning, and Employee Lifecycle Management: - Manage, track, and maintain progressive discipline measures and accurate documentation, ensuring compliance, ideally with ISO 9001:2015 standards.
- Manage the plant onboarding/offboarding, including conducting new employee orientation monthly and managing exit interview process.
- Manage all training activities and documentation at the plant level, collaborating with corporate HR L&D on company-wide programs.
- Forecast current and future talent needs, maintaining a succession plan for plant salaried and hourly staff.
- Develop and maintain job descriptions in alignment with the corporate HR team.
- Administer and document performance reviews, employee personal development plans, and benefit programs.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, federal and state regulations, and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Oversee external recruitment agencies that support hourly production and external agencies managing leaves of absence (STD, LTD) and return-to-work programs.
- Perform and document exit interviews.
- Manage employee engagement through recognition/appreciation programs.
IDEAL EXPERIENCE: - Bachelor's or preferably a master's degree in human resources, Business/Administration (MBA), Manufacturing, Human Resources Management, and/or Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
- 8-10 years of progressive Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of HR Manager experience showcasing expertise with thorough employee investigations and documentation.
- In-depth knowledge of Utah State-specific employment laws and regulations over the past 3 years.
- Workforce Planning and Development: Showcasing highly developed skills in workforce planning and development, particularly with hourly staff and shifts.
- System Proficiency: Boasting experience with Ceridian/Dayforce modules, a notable advantage.
- Additional abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Strong supervisory skills; Effective project management; Strong business acumen; Demonstrated change management skills.
- HRCI or SHRM certifications are a plus, not a must.
