HRU has teamed up with Roush to find an Automotive Commodity Manager 1 to join it's Livonia, MI team. This is a long-term contract role that will likely continue to get extended or go direct. We are looking for candidates with a Bachelor's in Supply Chain or similar, along with purchasing experience from an internship/co-op/full-time role. The Junior Buyer will place purchase orders, requests for quotes (RFQs), perform data analysis and other activities associated with overseeing the sourcing of new products. The role will manage suppliers and current cost reductions. The Junior Buyer evaluates suppliers based on cost, quality, launch, and delivery of their products and services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Lead current production cost reduction and new program sourcing for the assigned commodities, including issuing and analyzing RFQs. (40%)
-Process purchase orders and ensure that supplier is meeting delivery dates. (20%)
-Assist in developing and executing sourcing strategies and plans to leverage Roush’s global buy and optimize total supplier performance (cost, quality, delivery, and launch). (5%)
-Lead, manage and execute data collection, validation, analysis, and negotiation activities for the assigned commodities. (10%)
-Assist in on going supplier assessment and performance review meetings, monitor effectiveness of strategy, and make changes. (10%)
-Participate in process improvements with the team to develop and implement best practices. (10%)
-Monitor supply markets, trends, and forecasts. (5%)

Minimum Qualifications to be considered:
-Bachelor’s degree in Business or related or technical area.
-Good verbal and written communication skills.
-Good computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
-Professional and possesses integrity.
-Ability to collect and analyze data.

Education and Experience (preferred):
-Relevant internship or co-op experience.
-Experience in the automotive industry.
-Experience with cost analysis.
-Experience in negotiating and assessing suppliers.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities (preferred):
-Understanding of automotive industry quality standards.
-Coordination, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
-Technical capability and manufacturing knowledge.
-Knowledge of PeopleSoft.
-Familiarity purchasing raw materials (steel, stainless steel, aluminum, etc.)
