Position Overview: As a Biotech Accounting Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations of our biotechnology company. This position requires expertise in biotech accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and a proactive approach to financial management in a research and development-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Reporting:

   • Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements in accordance with biotech accounting standards.
   • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders.

2. Compliance and Regulations:

   • Stay updated on industry-specific regulations and accounting standards.
   • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory bodies and financial reporting requirements for biotechnology companies.

3. Budgeting and Forecasting:

   • Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes for the biotech division.
   • Work closely with research and development teams to establish budgetary goals and monitor performance.

4. Cost Accounting:

   • Implement and oversee cost accounting methodologies specific to biotech research and development.
   • Analyze and report on project costs, grants, and funding.

5. Internal Controls:

   • Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
   • Conduct periodic assessments to ensure compliance with financial policies.

6. Audit Coordination:

   • Coordinate and facilitate internal and external audits.
   • Address audit findings and implement corrective actions as needed.

7. Team Leadership:

   • Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
   • Provide training and development opportunities for team members.

8. Financial Analysis:

   • Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning.
   • Provide insights into financial trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement in the biotech sector.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred.
• 6+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with a focus on biotech accounting.
• In-depth knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles specific to the biotechnology industry.
• Experience with ERP systems, financial modeling, and data analysis.
• Familiarity with grant accounting and funding mechanisms in the biotech sector.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Effective communication and presentation abilities.
