Position Overview: As a Biotech Accounting Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations of our biotechnology company. This position requires expertise in biotech accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and a proactive approach to financial management in a research and development-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements in accordance with biotech accounting standards.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
Compliance and Regulations:
- Stay updated on industry-specific regulations and accounting standards.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory bodies and financial reporting requirements for biotechnology companies.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes for the biotech division.
- Work closely with research and development teams to establish budgetary goals and monitor performance.
Cost Accounting:
- Implement and oversee cost accounting methodologies specific to biotech research and development.
- Analyze and report on project costs, grants, and funding.
Internal Controls:
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Conduct periodic assessments to ensure compliance with financial policies.
Audit Coordination:
- Coordinate and facilitate internal and external audits.
- Address audit findings and implement corrective actions as needed.
Team Leadership:
- Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Provide training and development opportunities for team members.
Financial Analysis:
- Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning.
- Provide insights into financial trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement in the biotech sector.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred.
- 6+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with a focus on biotech accounting.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles specific to the biotechnology industry.
- Experience with ERP systems, financial modeling, and data analysis.
- Familiarity with grant accounting and funding mechanisms in the biotech sector.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Effective communication and presentation abilities.
