Job description

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates. Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates. Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors. Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors. Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, or drawings. Provide technical support to other employees regarding mechanical design, fabrication, testing, or documentation. Review project instructions and specifications to identify, modify and plan requirements fabrication, assembly and testing. Assist engineers to design, develop, test, or manufacture industrial machinery, consumer products, or other equipment. Estimate cost factors including labor and material for purchased and fabricated parts and costs for assembly, testing, or installing. Review documents, such as production schedules, work orders, or staffing tables, to determine personnel or materials requirements or material priorities. Arrange for delivery, assembly, or distribution of supplies or parts to expedite flow of materials and meet production schedules. Requisition and maintain inventories of materials or supplies necessary to meet production demands. Confer with department supervisors or other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed changes. Contact suppliers to verify shipment details. Establish and prepare product construction directions and locations and information on required tools, materials, equipment, numbers of workers needed, and cost projections.
