Requirements. Director of Nursing shall be:
- Licensed as a registered nurse by the Idaho Board of Nursing.
- Responsible for appropriate nursing administration and management practices, meeting legal standards of nursing practice and current trends in service delivery.
Duties. Under the direct supervision of a Home Administrator, the DON shall serve as the team leader in the provision of Director of Nursing and perform a variety of nursing tasks in conformance with Division nursing policies, including the following tasks:
- Providing supervision, plans, information, and direction to all nursing care staff.
- Reviewing charts to ensure appropriate documentation of care.
- Reviews and evaluates the nursing care operation including facilities layout, equipment, employee utilization, and work procedures for needs, determining whether nursing service goals are being met or whether changes in nursing activities are necessary.
- Develops programs, including goals, objectives and presents for approval.
- Develop, review, and implement nursing policies and procedures.
- Monitor infection control program.
- Monitor quality management program.
- Monitor in-service/education program.
- Prepare a variety of correspondence and reports as required by state and federal rules and regulations.
- Attend/participate in a variety of policy and decision-making groups and committees to plan nursing service program & policy development.
- Responsible for ensuring staff/contract employees comply with governing regulations and facility policies, procedures and practices.
- Exercising professional judgment in the administration of nursing tasks, including judgment regarding the application of healthcare directives.
- Documenting events occurring during each shift, including completion of resident census reports, 24-hour reports, focused charting, minimum data sets (MDS) assessments, and updated care plans.
- Other duties as directed by facility Administrator.
Compensation: Salary and benefits will be negotiable with partner facility, and depend on experience.
