Seeking an Accounting Specialist with Healthcare experience in St. Louis, MO

Job Title: Accounting Specialist

Location: St. Louis, MO

Duration: Full Time/ Permanent

Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accounting Assistant will perform accounting and clerical duties in accordance with standard procedures in general accounting. The position is responsible for associated month-end closing duties and reporting for a client population based on client deadlines and will also perform accounts receivable and calculate accruals.

Process Skills:

Verify ACH Credits to Client's bank account & email the analyst. Import and prepare the payment files over to the accounting system-Quick Books to issue payments to the providers (checks & EFTs).

Prepare the Positive Pay files and submit the files to the bank

Research & correct accounting discrepancies (Positive Pay issues, Cleared/Returned checks & EFTs, Stop Pay & Reissue payments & other accounting issues)

Daily reconcile client's account after each check run

Provide monthly reporting after Sarah completes the bank reconciliations and to Corporate Accounting in NJ for their monthly reconciliations

Back up Sarah on the bank reconciliations

Prepare & input accounting journal entries

Assist in identifying & driving best in process improvements & update process documentation

Assess/interpret/support Customer service.

Identifies solutions to requests & problems

Prepare GL Claims reports to 3 clients after their payment files are completed

Prepare 1099s

Prepare Provider's refund checks for deposit and submit refunds to the clients

Perform other ad hoc projects & accounting duties as assigned: Currently supporting St. Louis PEAK Accounting Dept Releasing payments in PaySpan for clients A-M, Posting month-end adjustments in Great Plains for month end recons and reconcile 4 PEAK clients.

Additional Functions:

Assists with the preparation of other reports and analysis as needed

Certification:

Education/Experience Educational requirements include a High School Diploma. Associate Degree in Accounting is helpful

Two years of accounting-related experience is required, and prior healthcare accounting experience is preferred.

A/R & A/P experience in a medical environment is strongly preferred.

Intermediate, current skills in Excel are required to effectively perform this role. Recent experience using pivot tables and formulas is required; candidates may be asked to demonstrate Excel skills during the interview process.

Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers and clients

Skilled in problem resolution; recommends suggestions to increase accuracy and/or efficiency
