Job description
Growing Manufacturing firm in Colorado Spings has a need for a Process Engineer. This is a direct hire role with a full benefits package.
EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Manufacturing or Industrial engineering degree preferred
MANDATORY EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years manufacturing experience required.
RESPONSIBILITIES: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1) Sustaining engineering function for Manufacturing/Operations a. Addressing regular issues associated with Operations on a daily basis i. Main contact with Operations ii. Liaison between Quality team and Operations team b. Interacting with Operations team to assess nonconformance trends and potential points for improvement/clarification c. ERP assessment/corrections 2) Process characterization a. Review/verify/evaluate spec limits and process instructions i. Failure analysis and characterization of inks subjected to nonstandard processing ii. Determine quantifiable product change as a function of time/process cycles b. Determine capacity throughput limits and identify bottlenecks in terms of equipment/processes/personnel c. Execute process improvement objectives in a team environment. d. Perform regular internal audits of the manufacturing process to ensure standard operating procedures meet true practice. 3) Process optimization/process development a. Test/evaluate potential changes to existing processes to streamline* manufacturing processes i. *streamline improve safety increase throughput establish best practice improve quality b. Write/edit procedures and work instructions c. Collaborate with R&D to determine part specifications and QA guidelines d. Investigate methods** for increasing ink manufacturing capacity. **includes new equipment evaluation and major changes to unit operations chemistry or process conditions e. Optimize large scale manufacturing processes to reduce waste improve quality and support production scaleup. f. Identify key process improvement opportunities throughout all steps of product development. g. Examine internal documentation and optimize the manufacturing standard operating procedures to better fit true practices. h. Participate in safety activities to improve overall safety within the building and mitigate accidents. i. Participate in all relevant team meetings with particular emphasis on RCA Action Plan Implementation FMEAs DOEs Design Reviews Specification setting etc. i. Use root cause analysis to determine points of failure within company processes. j. Lead crossfunctional teams to improve existing processes to establish Best Practice and utilize SPC to track results. k. Maintain quality records to support lessons learned across all product lines. l. Oversee QC test instrument systems including calibration gage R&R and test procedures. m. Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators. Experience in customer negotiations and influence both verbal and written. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work on multiple projects at one time. Ability to produce defined deliverables under tight deadlines.
