Position description The Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position supervised by Professor Lin Lin. The primary role will be in the development and analysis of quantum algorithms, particularly focusing on:
- Eigenvalue problems.
- Open quantum systems.
- Non-Hermitian quantum dynamics. While the primary focus is on the areas listed, there is flexibility to work on other topics related to quantum algorithms. Collaborative opportunities abound, as the projects involve active interactions with mathematicians, physicists, and computer scientists. The selected Postdoctoral Scholar will be expected to:
- Develop novel quantum algorithms and analyze the algorithmic complexity of new computational approaches.
- When applicable, implement algorithms numerically, ensuring they are suitable for open-source distribution to the scientific community.
- Publish research results in peer-reviewed journals / conferences.
- Disseminate research results to the broader scientific community in conferences and seminars.
- Collaborate and integrate with group members. When applicable, mentor junior members of the group. Labor Contract : Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent international degree or be in the process of obtaining a Ph.D. or equivalent international degree at the time of application. Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
Candidates must have obtained their Ph.D. or equivalent international degree by the start date of the job. Candidates should have no more than three years of previous postdoctoral experience by the start date. Preferred qualifications - A PhD in Applied Mathematics, Theoretical Physics, Quantum Information Theory, or related area.
- Previous experience in the field of quantum algorithms for scientific computing problems.
- Strong publication record in the area of quantum algorithms for scientific computing problems.
