Job description
ACI Federal is seeking a Biochemist to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) located in Bethesda, MD.
Overall Position Summary and Objectives
This person will work with facility director on providing Mass Spectrometry-based proteomics analysis for core users and collaborators. The duties include perform sample treatment; Operate instruments existing in the PCF core; Provide guidance and support to users operating the Agilent LC-QTOF instrument; Perform general laboratory maintenance; Purchase reagents needed for samples treatment and maintain records of purchases. In the long run, this person will perform data analysis and communicate results with users; Design experiments and develop methods for collaborators; Attend conferences and present findings at the meeting.

Work Details:
- Perform sample preparation for lab assays and for collaboration. 1
- Update and maintain records of experiments and results. 2
- Perform routine laboratory maintenance; ensure research supplies are kept stocked. 3
- Perform routine maintenance of lab equipment 4
- Collect, analyze and interpret data for experimental results; prepare tables and figures. 5
- Performs research activities and other tasks in a laboratory environment.
- Records observations and measurements and reports results at weekly laboratory meetings.
- Present and communicate results with Project Team and staff.
- Documents and analyzes data from experiments.
- Evaluates new technologies and instruments.
- Develop and optimize novel bioanalytical methods based on the future needs.
- Maintains lab notebooks and lab equipment.
- Writes technical reports and prepares manuscripts.
- Write experiment reports and prepare manuscripts for publication in collaboration with other investigators.
- Performs lab techniques which study the chemical processes of living organisms.
- Perform assays to validate antibodies western blot analysis, ELISA and immunoprecipitation.
- Conducts research experiments that will determine the effects of food, drugs, serums, hormones, and other substances on tissues and processes of living organisms.
- Conduct routine and non-routine sample preparation/extraction methods for a variety of biological matrices including but not limited to plasma, urine, skeletal muscle and brain tissue.
- Presents findings at scientific conferences and meetings.
- Prepare posters and oral presentations for delivery at scientific meetings.
- Participates in the development of laboratory procedures.
- Work with staff in the design, implementation, interpretation, and reporting of bioanalytical method development and sample analysis.

Minimum Education
Master's
