Job description
Our partner, a boutique firm in the banking and finance industry, is immediately seeking an Accountant. This position will play a crucial role in supporting the Controller by managing general ledger accounting tasks and preparing essential management and regulatory financial reports. The responsibilities will also include collaborating with both internal and external audit teams and contributing to ad hoc projects focused on financial reporting enhancements.
Accountant Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate financial records and prepare financial statements in accordance with regulatory guidelines
Perform reconciliations of bank accounts, general ledger accounts and other financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness
Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
Prepare and submit regulatory reports and filings as required by governing bodies
Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes
Identify areas for process improvement and implement efficiency-enhancing initiatives
Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices to ensure compliance and mitigate risks
Provide support and guidance to junior accounting staff as needed
Communicate financial information effectively to stakeholders, including management, auditors and regulatory agencies
Accountant Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field
3+ years proven experience in accounting, with banking industry and public accounting experience preferred
SEC and FDICIA experience preferred
Excellent organizational, problem solving and strategic thinking skills
