Job description
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Operations Specialist to join our team. This hybrid role involves managing day-to-day operations in Latrobe, PA, ensuring accuracy in payroll system data for both union and non-union payrolls. The successful candidate will collaborate with Payroll Analysts on the Payroll Shared Services team, contributing to accurate and timely payments while delivering excellent customer service to employees and HR business partners.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support the administration of day-to-day operations in Latrobe, PA, focusing on payroll data accuracy.
- Collaborate with Payroll Analysts to ensure timely and accurate payments, providing exceptional customer service.
- Analyze payroll processing issues, offering functional and technical expertise for process improvements.
- Manage small projects with Payroll Shared Services and cross-functional teams, including Mainframe enhancements, SAP, and KRONOS.
- Identify and recommend continuous process improvements.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- Four-year college degree preferred; High School Diploma required.
- 3 5 years of experience in a payroll position.
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Kronos and Workday experience preferred.
- Familiarity with federal, multi-state, and local payroll regulations, including tax, compensation, and benefits.
- Strong collaborative relationships with internal and external customers.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical mindset, good judgment, and high attention to details and accuracy.
- Ability to create and manage complex queries and spreadsheets, providing high-level data analysis.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of critical analysis skills and knowledge of SOX controls.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment with multiple deadlines.
- Strong understanding of payroll administration, recordkeeping, reporting, and basic accounting principles related to payroll processing.
- Knowledge of software applications related to payroll systems and time and attendance systems.
- Ability to mentor the Payroll Shared Services team, providing guidance, training, and building effective working relationships.
