Job description
Objective of the Position: Provide support to the Manufacturing Engineering team of the Business Unit and all plants with primary focus on machine commissioning during new product launches covering robotics, welding & PLC integration on any type of equipment. Contribute to the cost efficiency in manufacturing processes applying lean manufacturing methods.
Essential Accountabilities: The position incumbent ensures that:
General: - Commissioning & Launch Support of semi-/fully automated production lines in all BU US plants
- Respond to production stop emergencies on short notice
Robotics & Welding: - Apply methods and standardized programming approaches based on Purem Robotics Academy modules – TCP & axis calibration, communication etc.
- Experience with Yaskawa Motoman required (Generation DX100 / 200, YRC)
- Perform maintenance tasks on existing equipment
- Install, integrate & validate functionality of peripheral devices on robots (mainly SKS and Fronius equipment)
- Provide robotics programming support to plants for new product launches and CIP projects
- Ensure SMAC welding times are met or requirements are exceeded
- Optimize weld path and synchronized welding for cycle time reduction
- Determination of weld parameters
- Analysis of macro sections and implement robot programming adjustments
- Create NC-Set up plans
- Provide training upon request to maintenance & robotics techs
- Perform virtual accessibility and cycle time studies in Motosim, create reports
- Support during fixture design phase by evaluating robot access and provide design feedback
- Perform accessibility evaluations on exhaust system designs and provide design feedback
- Collaborate with global launch team
Automation: - Siemens PLC programming of weld cells and EOL equipment as well as tool bars
- Programming Simatic S7 Controllers in software version S7, TIA 13, TIA 15.1 etc.
- Expert in device communication (Serial, Profibus, Profinet, TCP/IP)
- Install and integrate new technology solutions in the area of automation / visual poka yokes etc.
- Integrate laser etching systems and grading devices to meet ISO/IEC 15415 and ISO/IEC TR29158
- Troubleshoot PLC program / wiring / hardware issues and resolve problems
- Install and integrate traceability to new and existing production lines; collaborate closely with Purem ETS team
- Install and integrate OEE addon across the BU US plants for improved operational excellence
- Other duties as assigned
Secondary Accountabilities: The position incumbent ensures that:
- Conduct all business related activities for, and on the behalf of, Purem within the limits of applicable local, state, and federal legal requirements
- Provide support to, and compliance with, all local and corporate Purem Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures and other HSE related requirements
- Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and follows all EETAM polices related to TS16949 and ISO 14001; looks for way to improve and promote quality
Requirement Profile:
Professional Background / Basic Qualification / Work Experience: - Min. Bachelor of Engineering in the fields of electronics, automation or equivalent
- Minimum of five years’ experience in the automotive industry
- Ability to read electronic & pneumatic & hydraulic prints
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient Siemens S7, TIA 13, TIA15.1 and the Microsoft Office package
- Experience with industrial robots – preferably Motoman
- Experience with automated welding – preferably with SKS and Fronius
- Experience as PLC Engineer at a system integrator is a plus
- Willingness to travel on short notice
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally via car and plane
