Job Summary

This position requires an individual with a strong understanding of equipment asset management through the life cycle to ensure maximum efficiency and performance is brought to operations. Must have strong interpersonal skills to manage, mentor, and guide personnel.

The primary focus will be to ensure the equipment and manufacturing plants is properly maintained and operates cost effectively, with a high level of reliability. The Equipment Manager is responsible for annual budgeting, monthly cost analysis reports, asset replacement requirements and improving utilization by operation. The assets must remain in a good running condition, clean, and organized, in accordance with policy and maintaining a positive company image.

Main Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe work environment for all employees
• Enforce all company policies and procedures
• Support the strategy set forth by Direct Supervisor, in line with the Colas strategy.
• Provide leadership to maintenance staff; train and mentor staff to develop skills as necessary
• Ability to lead / coach field operators, oversee, delegate and hold them accountability for safe and proper use of equipment.
• Ability to communicate equipment operating/maintenance issues and give feedback to maintenance personnel as required
• Review asset utilization to maximize efficiency’s in all locations
• Ensure the preventive Maintenance program as well as seasonal campaigns are scheduled correctly and the systems remain current
• Assist in diagnosing mechanical problems and provide direction on repairs to be completed
• Prepare annual budgets; monitor and take necessary steps to ensure assets and maintenance costs remain within budget
• Provide recommendations on asset life expectancies, replacement schedules and new asset specifications.
• Analyze assets and equipment costs on a monthly basis and provide periodic cost analysis
• Liaise with operations staff, working closely to maintain a positive and productive line of communication.
• Conduct annual employee performance evaluations for direct report
• Ensure fleet appearance is within corporate guidelines at all times.
• Helps initiate demos where they would be fitted.
• Assist in vendor negotiations for quoting repairs and parts as well as new assets
• Investigate with Safety team equipment accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify their causes and to determine how they might be prevented
• Develop and apply methods of measuring the performance of Equipment and provide feedback on improving
• Assists in managing costs and the completion of the Capital Projects
