As a Field Service Mechanic, you'll play a crucial role in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy duty construction equipment. If you have vocational training and formal schooling in hydraulics and diesel engine repair, that's definitely a plus.

Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions in heavy duty equipment, including engines, transmissions, drivetrains, hydraulics, electrical systems, and fuel systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure minimal downtime and costly repairs.
- Interpret blueprints, wiring and hydraulic diagrams, parts catalogs, lubrication charts, and repair manuals.
- Provide tools, parts, and arrange for facilities to perform repair work, usually on customer premises.
- Inspect, operate, and test equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Report necessary information to Service Supervisor for proper billing and accounts management.
- Continuously enhance technical skills through training sessions and reading technical literature.
- Promote and maintain company image by keeping a neat appearance and a clean service truck.
- Train and supervise new servicemen when required.
Educational Requirements
- Some vocational or formal schooling in hydraulics and diesel engine repair.
- Three years of on-the-job experience in diesel mechanics and hydraulics. Schooling in these fields could substitute for some experience.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and other technical material.
- Passing the tacker test is required. Passing the AWSD14 Welding Test is encouraged for future promotions.
Physical Requirements
- Stooping, bending, climbing, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
- DOT certifiable.
- Availability to stay overnight at out-of-town locations when required.
- Must be insurable to drive company truck (MVR and background check).
