Job Summary

The Legal Assistant provides legal and administrative support to multiple attorneys in the Office of Legal Affairs, including document management, claims processing, legal correspondence, and litigation management. Performs intake and processing of all requests received from outside attorneys, in coordination with Medical Risk Management attorneys. Handles credentialing requests from other health care and licensing entities and accurately answers general malpractice insurance plan questions. Coordinates attorney calendars and scheduling for meetings, depositions, court appearances, and litigation deadlines. Maintains internal litigation hold system and coordinates gathering potentially responsive material, evidence, and information from internal and external sources. Maintains and monitors claim and litigation case files and legal correspondence. May provide working supervision to administrative staff to ensure smooth department workflow.

Prior experience working in a supportive role within an office setting is preferred.

Required Experience and Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field, or certification as paralegal from a recognized entity (e.g., Texas Board of Legal Specialization (or other state equivalent), National Federation of Paralegal Associations, National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA); and a minimum of one (1) year work experience in legal setting.
