Summary
We are currently searching for an experienced Tax/Treasury Specialist who is responsible for ensuring payroll tax accuracy and maintaining compliance with tax regulation for client accounts. This position will also be responsible for handling treasury tasks, including communication of daily direct deposit issues and processing daily bank files. A key component of this position will be responsible for providing day-to-day execution and the management of various activities within the tax and treasury department as assigned.
Your duties will include:
- Perform payroll tax compliance functions which can include processing tax notices, client tax audits, monthly/quarter/annual filings, processing client POA's with agencies, and state registrations.
- Communicate with tax agencies and clients to resolve issues with a focus on handling escalated issues
- Analyze multi-state payroll tax data and perform calculations, ensuring that payroll information is reported accurately to federal, state, and local agencies
- Perform daily treasury tasks which include reviewing and communicating to Service rejected employee direct deposit issues, handling ACH processing, reconciling bank accounts and processing the daily treasury banking jobs.
- Responsible for providing team members with substantive, periodic feedback on performance through reviewing casework with a focus on team growth
- Develop, recommend, and lead new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements and efficiency of the Payroll Tax and Treasury functions
- Research compliance issues and become a trusted resource to the team and clients
- Provide support with various internal audits and special tax-related projects
- Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with clients, agencies, and coworkers to preserve a quality customer service image
- Assist Treasury Manager with projects and team initiatives
- Evaluate, train, manage, and mentor team members with their assigned tasks to foster exceptional levels of efficacy and engagement
- Maintain hands-on knowledge of all processes, tasks, and technical aspects of the payroll tax positions within the team
- Performs other duties or special projects as assigned
Education and Experience:
- Payroll service provider experience preferred
- PHR or CPP a plus
- iSolved experience (big plus)
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Proven ability to manage payroll tax compliance responsibilities
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in payroll tax filings and compliance
- Must possess a strong knowledge of payroll and payroll taxing regulations
- Knowledge of Federal and multi-state payroll tax laws
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to audit internal procedures, client needs and compliance regulations to implement highly efficient processes
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to act with integrity, be proactive with client needs, seek to continuously improve service, constantly focus on professional growth, and work collaboratively across departments
