ABOUT THE ROLE
The Industrial Hygienist assists with designing and implementing the Company's Industrial Hygiene program. As part of the Company's Safety organization, the Industrial Hygienist works to ensure that all employees uphold the core value of safety by implementing and maintaining Industrial Hygiene and workplace safety programs. Utilizes advanced techniques and diversified knowledge of industrial hygiene and safety principles to develop and implement occupational health and safety programs. The Industrial Hygienist will develop positive professional relationships with field personnel, all levels of management and outside agencies during all phases of construction projects.
This position involves up to 75% travel.

Essential Functions
Identify workplace factors that could impact employee health and recommend corrective actions to reduce or eliminate occupational health and safety issues
Act as a liaison between management, outside local safety agencies, and insurance carriers
Coordinate with district operations personnel to establish and maintain safety standards
Work includes technical responsibility for hazard identification and management of employee Industrial Hygiene exposure assessments
Inspect work environments to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations
Conduct sample testing of different environments (i.e., air quality, noise, hazards, etc.)
Investigate accidents/health issues and develop plans to prevent their recurrence
Develop, implement and maintain the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), including Industrial Hygiene and workplace safety programs, systems and procedures
Coordinate and conduct periodic job site visits of all crews to identify unsafe work conditions and practices
Coordinate other supplemental inspections whenever new processes, equipment, substances, or previously unrecognized hazards are found to be present
Develop and implement corrective action plans for all injury and illness investigation reports
Create a system for communicating health and safety issues to include safety meetings, formal safety training and posting of various communications
Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical conduct standards, if applicable
Essential functions of this position are to be performed in a Company-designated office or field location

ABOUT YOU
Qualifications
1 to 2 years of experience working with commercial or industrial or transmission and distribution projects
Minimum 1 year of experience in a workplace safety-related role
Experience within the electrical construction industry is beneficial
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and/or Industrial Hygiene is required; combination of relevant experience (minimum 5 years) and education considered in lieu of degree
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation is required
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation is preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Advanced knowledge and understanding of industry-related safety regulations is required
Familiarity with establishing program implementation requirements for clients with regards to both OSHA and environmental compliance issues
Knowledge of, or direct experience working with OSHA VPP or Sharp-recognized organization is required
Uses independent judgement and discretion in data analysis and problem resolution
Advanced knowledge of specific government agency requirements

Salary $74,500-$100,000 / year
Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
