Environmental Specialist _ Bridgewater, NJ

Pay: $55/hr
Purpose of Position
Supports the HSEQ organization with the implementation of the company’s Management system, including ISO14001, and efforts associated with achieving 100% environmental compliance goal.
Supports various business functions, including Operations and Distribution, in implementing and maintaining environmental plans, processes, programs, and standards to ensure compliance with applicable environmental laws and regulations, and ISO14001
Principal Responsibilities
Conducts visits to sites to evaluate environmental permitting and regulatory compliance and to provide compliance assistance. Participates and advises during resolution of any environmental compliance concerns as needed.
Identifies environmental compliance gaps and develops solutions to fill the gaps.
Maintains working knowledge of all environmental regulations in the US and Canada, especially as it concerns air and refrigerants matters.
Manages spills reported to Spill Center and supports related investigation as needed.
Manages pesticides FIFRA and CA DPR reporting and any additional reporting that may arise.
Supports sales teams with related inquiries.
Supports EPA GHG reporting process.
Supports Operations and Distribution sites. Responds to site inquiries on environmental issues and advises on course of action.
Participates in the development of environmental training.
Tracks and compiles environmental sustainability metrics, such as water consumption, refrigerants emissions, vehicle mileage, and others as applicable or requested.

HSEQ organization
Various company businesses (Operations, Distribution, Helium, Sales, etc.)
Company’s legal team (internal/external)
External professional bodies, government agencies and industry associations (EPA, State environmental agencies, CGA, etc.)
Required Education & Skills
BS Degree, Chemical, Civil Engineer or Environmental, Chemical Scientist
Environmental compliance, Minimum 5 years of experience
Air quality compliance, Minimum 5 years of experience
Basic Qualifications
Knowledge of environmental regulations related to air, water, hazardous materials, and waste, with emphasis on air.
Knowledge of water and air treatment technologies and practices.
Other Qualifications
Ability to travel (50%)
General knowledge of environmental sustainability matters, including metrics and scopes.
Ability and discipline to work independently.
Computer savvy
