About the job
As Sr. Technical Consultant Health Information Exchange, you will support SAS US Public Sector healthcare delivery engagements by providing executive and technical consulting to complex projects that utilize healthcare interoperability standards, specifically in the context of Health Information Exchange. A successful candidate will have expert level communication skills and the ability to solve complex data and analytic problems by providing strategic guidance and direction to internal and external stakeholders. The individual will use this knowledge to advance SAS analytic solutions, deepen customer relationships and ensure strong business value for customers through support of pre-sales, consulting, delivery, and operations support. In addition, the consultant will have excellent working knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards, industry trends and policy.
As a Sr. Technical Consultant – Health Information Exchange you will:
- Build and Support Customer Relationships
- Build credibility and trusted-advisor relationships with customers, including strategic high-level influencers, policymakers, decision-makers, operational management, and end-users.
- Develop and maintain solid connections with business partners, industry leaders and others to establish focused and effective strategic networking and teaming arrangements.
- Provide health informatics and clinical data subject matter expertise to support projects that transform complex data into usable reporting and analytics solutions that improve health outcomes.
- Assist delivery teams and customers in all areas of issue resolution. Seeks to rectify issues at the team level and escalates critical issues to ensure timely and collaborative issue resolution.
- Conduct customer sessions for requirements gathering, data discovery, analysis, reporting and presentation. Collaborate with professional services to ensure requirements are met.
- Act as a mentor and coach to other team members.
- Know SAS
- Participate in product and solution training to acquire and maintain a detailed level of product knowledge of core components of SAS offerings, how each solution addresses health related business challenges, competitive information to identify how our solution stands apart, and what challenges/limitations may be encountered.
- Utilizes broad range knowledge of SAS software to design and demonstrate solutions to emerging and unique customer needs using current SAS offerings.
- Facilitate interest, engagement and adoption of SAS products and services.
- Plan and Support Sales Activities
- Serve as a thought-leader and effectively communicate this knowledge to support sales and implementation activities.
- Contribute to SAS’ strategic roadmap for healthcare solutions and customers.
- Support efforts to scope and define work effort, resource plans, and time/cost estimates.
- Provide subject matter expertise to advance SAS solutions that leverage clinical data to support state Medicaid and other government agencies.
- Build trusted relationship with sales teams to provide practical guidance in the functional and technical aspects of proposed solutions and set proper expectations to ensure customer satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, health care, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in the use of clinical data to support interoperability and improved health outcomes.
- 5+ years of experience using SAS and/or other programming languages to analyze large healthcare datasets and develop new analytic solutions.
- Knowledgeable in and continually monitoring the healthcare industry, government trends, and regulations at the State and Federal level.
- Understanding of current and future State and U.S. Health Information Technology (HIT) Policy, Standards and Legislative Agendas from CMS, ONC, and HHS.
- Familiarity with EMR systems, interoperability software and standards related to clinical data e.g., HL7 FHIR, RxNorm, LOINC.
- Demonstrated ability to present to all levels of an organization.
- Ability to be concise, independent and provide defensible decisions in writing.
- Ability to travel as business needs require.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with EMR clinical workflows and how information from other systems can be integrated with those workflows.
- Knowledge of how Medicaid programs operate and the use of healthcare analytics to advance the quality and efficiency of care provided to Medicaid beneficiaries.
- Experience in assisting States collaborate within and across Agencies to develop sustainable governance models, use cases for Healthcare IT, and acquiring federal funding through Advance Planning Document (APD) requests.
- Software product management experience.
- Work location in Cary, NC strongly preferred.
