Position Title: Data Migration Engineer Location: Birmingham, AL (Hybrid) Job Type: 6 Months Contract-To-Hire
Note*: 2 Days onsite per week in Birmingham, AL or couple of their other locations (Travel might be required)
Skill Set: SQL, Python, Spark, AWS, CI/CD testing
Position Overview:
We are looking for a talented Data Migration Engineer with proven experience in migrating data from on-premises environments to Snowflake, a cloud-based data warehousing platform. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data migration processes, strong SQL skills, and hands-on experience with Snowflake architecture and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data migration requirements and objectives.
Design and implement data migration strategies from on-premises databases to Snowflake.
Develop and optimize SQL scripts and data pipelines for efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
Perform data profiling, analysis, and validation to ensure data integrity and accuracy throughout the migration process.
Troubleshoot and resolve data migration issues, performance bottlenecks, and data quality issues.
Document migration processes, technical specifications, and best practices.
Provide technical guidance and support to team members and stakeholders throughout the data migration lifecycle.
Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
Proven experience as a Data Migration Engineer or similar role.
Strong proficiency in SQL and database management systems.
Hands-on experience with Snowflake data warehousing platform.
Familiarity with data migration tools and techniques.
Solid understanding of data modeling, schema design, and data warehousing concepts.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with other cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery).
Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell scripting).
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
Certifications in Snowflake or related technologies is a plus.
