Underwriting Support Specialist

Pay starting at $45,000 per year, plus bonus opportunities!

We are currently looking to add an Underwriting Support Specialist to our team in Plantation, Florida. This team handles quoting certain risks by phone for our Agents and is responsible for establishing types and limits of coverage to be provided. This includes rating accounts within carrier guidelines and troubleshooting problems. To be successful in this role, you should have exceptional customer service skills and have the ability to handle complex accounts with guidance from the team. This is considered an entry-level opportunity, but a background in Insurance is a plus.

Responsibilities include:

• Answer a high volume of inbound service calls
• Gather information from agents to assess their individual service needs
• Rates business according to company underwriting and pricing guidelines within individual underwriting authority limits, and ensures standards for timeliness are met.
• Develops on-going relationships with agents, monitors profitability and quality of submissions, and keeps agent up-to-date with underwriting and/or product changes.
• Establishes types and limits of coverage to be provided.
• Calculates standard rates and premium charges by using approved formulas and tables.
• Ability to cross sell products

Job Requirements:

• Knowledge of Excess & Surplus Commercial Lines preferred but not required
• Ability to handle more complex accounts with some guidance from Underwriter
• Computer competencies including the ability to navigate multiple websites and databases
• Problem analysis, resolution with the ability to multi-task
• Strong customer orientation, excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Team player with a commitment to company values
