The Assistant Vice Provost (AVP) for Enrollment Policies, Connections, and Strategic Insights reports directly to the Vice Provost for Strategic Enrollment Management and serves as a member of his leadership team. This position leads the SEM strategy for how the organization integrates advance analytics, marketing and communications, enrollment policies, and operational technology to support new and continuing student’s enrollment (at the Vice Provost’s direction).

This position works closely with the Vice Provost to provide counsel on the implementation of nimble and visionary strategic enrollment practices and policies to keep pace with demographic shifts, workforce needs, scientific and scholarly advances, and the institution’s commitment to yielding and graduating the best and brightest students. This position works across the student lifecycle (from initial contact with the institution through graduation). The role integrates key strategies that raise the profile of the institution to prospective students and families, enhances recruitment/yielding tactics, and initiates policies, practices, and infrastructures that ensure student access and success through a data informed lens, and integrates advanced marketing and communication tactics to achieve the institution’s enrollment outcomes.

This critical role provides supervision, leadership, and integration to the following SEM functions: Strategic Enrollment Outreach and External Engagement Coordinator, Office of the University Registrar, SEM Marketing and Communications Office, and provides shared oversight with the SEM Vice Provost to the SEM’s enrollment research and insights strategy through providing dotted-lined supervision support to the Office of Analysis and Reporting (who will have a solid line to the Vice Provost for Strategic Enrollment Management). The AVP will be expected to work on behalf of the SEM Vice Provost to supervise, guide, and develop the initiatives led by the directors of the offices and strategies touching their areas in support of the university’s enrollment strategy.

Success in this exciting role requires the development, implementation, and guidance of a robust strategy that integrates community partnerships, modern marketing and communication strategy, data analytics, marketing analytics, and enrollment polices in a way that supports our ability to attract, admit, yield, support initial and continuous enrollment, and graduate students. This complex role will require providing sustained leadership on issues at the intersection of federal, state, and university policies to achieve the institution’s enrollment goals. The role will be expected to develop and lead projects, processes, and initiatives both current and new that advances enrollment goals.

This position will be asked to support initiatives designed to promote a one-university approach to impacting enrollment, student experience, and academic performance on all Ohio State campuses.

Duties Breakdown

Minimum Education Required

Master's Level Degree

Required Qualifications

Master's degree or equivalent combination of education/experience required. The successful candidate will have considerable administrative experience in either marketing and communications, data analytics, marketing analytics, university registrar functions, student success, or external engagement at a senior level. Considerable supervisory management experience in a progressively responsible capacity, preferably in a large complex organization is required.

Desired Qualifications

Experience at the Director level or higher in enrollment management at Ohio State University; and/or senior level experience integrating data, technology, external engagement, and marketing analytics to achieve organizational objectives, preferably in an enrollment management context or other sophisticated large organization.
