Introduction

The NPI Test Technician works at an experienced level on various developmental and production level projects and assists engineers during the design phase. This position has the added responsibilities of mentoring other test technicians, assisting engineers during product development and working to reduce waste and improve product flow in manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist engineering and manufacturing in the development/manufacture of power product prototypes.
• Assist in developing test methods and test risk reduction as well as documenting procedures and improvements or work instructions as related to test.
• Operates various types of test equipment such as VOM, Oscilloscope, chart recorder, ESS (environmental stress screening), data logger and power sources.
• Train and mentor other test technicians in proper test methods and use of equipment.
• Perform complicated tests and test setups. Find creative/alternate testing solutions when needed for digitally controlled power supples and high-power magnetics.
• Assist in technical problem resolution for both engineering and manufacturing.
• Participate in cost and waste reduction efforts including product/process improvements.
• Accurately record testing activities including engineering samples, prototypes, qualification testing and other related projects in support of AS9100 standards.
• Identify need for, design and fabricate test fixtures. Identify new equipment to support needs and provide cost justification.
• Supports production and engineering with failure identification and analysis of production hardware.
• Supports other departments, such as Quality Assurance, for calibration, first article/qualification need and manufacturing for part testing, when required. Provide customer support, as required.
• Capability to work occasional overtime, as needed.
• Limited travel may be required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Core Requirements

• Minimum of three (3) years related training and experience in magnetics and/or Power Electronics testing and related circuit theory.
• Ideal candidate should have experience in handling high power (up to 100kW) and high voltage (up to 1200V).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with associated military and aerospace specifications.
• Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
• Strong verbal skills and ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical employees.
• Commitment to work with a hands-on approach in a team atmosphere.

Desireable Skills and Experience

• Associates degree in Engineering or Electronics Technology and/or equivalent experience.
• Experience in understanding and troubleshooting three (3) phase transformers and auto-transformer/rectified units a plus.
