JOB SUMMARY : Completes repairs and preventative maintenance for all heating, ventilation and cooling equipment, including lubrication, changing filters, cleaning coils and adjustment of dampers and controls. Executes boiler maintenance, including combustion monitoring, adjustment of air/fuel ratios, water treatment, inspection, calibration and repair of all equipment and controls.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job and represent the type of work performed. They do not constitute an exhaustive list of the duties and responsibilities performed on the job. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only and are subject to flexibility dependent on organizational needs.
- Inspects, adjusts and repairs all HVAC systems and associated equipment. [Daily, 30%]
- Maintains preventative maintenance programs, including water treatment, in assigned facilities and completes proper documentation. [Daily, 25%]
- Troubleshoots and repairs temperature control systems, including DDC and electric. [Daily, 10%]
- Maintains energy program as defined by HVAC department to maximize savings and comfort. [Daily, 5%]
- Completes work orders and requests as assigned. Maintains daily work log. [Daily, 5%]
- Maintains vehicle and work areas in a clean and neat condition at all times and shares in mandatory participation of the on-call for department. [Weekly, 5%]
- Assists with light maintenance including electrical troubleshooting and minor repairs. [Weekly, 5%]
- Installs equipment and ductwork for modification of heating and cooling systems. [Monthly, 5%]
- Maintains updated drawings and other documentation in assigned facilities. [Annually, 5%]
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily, 5%]
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : The minimum amounts of formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that must be met for a candidate to be considered for a position
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and building automation systems (BAS)/building management system (BMS)/direct digital control (DDC) systems experience
- Must be able to work flexible hours and/or shifts
- Must provide after-hours contact information for emergencies
- Must meet insurability requirements of the Colorado School District Self Insurance Pool
- Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire
MINIMUM CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES : The minimum certifications and licenses that must be met, valid, and unexpired for a candidate to be considered for a position
- Colorado driver's license; Commercial driver's license is preferred
- Universal certification in Refrigerant Handling
- Pool certification required within the first six (6) months of employment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Any job-related formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications, licenses, and other criteria that are inessential and in addition to the minimum qualifications, certifications, and licenses
- Five (5) years HVAC, building mechanical controls or equipment experience
- Class A commercial driver's license
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
