Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:

In service of the University’s mission, Digital and Lifelong Learning works with units to support the development of digital programs and pedagogies, as well as other flexible and/or nontraditional learning experiences. We offer a variety of credit and professional (i.e., non-credit) programs through our unit and also provide support for programs across the University. In support of these programs, we provide strategy, coordination, and services to meet program needs, including but not limited to marketing, recruitment, program/course design and development, conference and event planning and support, and student/participant support. Through our programs and services, Digital and Lifelong Learning extends access to education for participants across the state and beyond and enables campus units to expand, share, and collaborate through support for their own research and educational programs.

Position Summary:

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

This position is responsible for directing, guiding, and managing daily business and financial operations of Digital and Lifelong Learning (DLL), including Credit Programs, Professional Programs, Conference Center Services, Online and Program Services, and Summer School. This position has full responsibility for budget management. This position is the lead Financial Officer for DLL, which has an annual budget exceeding $10,000,000 and 50+ full-time employees. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Mid- to late-career with Masters and 2- 4 yrs experience; Bachelors and 3-5 yrs experience

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

- Experience navigating finance policies in a large organization or unit.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Oversight of finances and account management for a higher education unit similar or equivalent to the UNC System or UNC-Chapel Hill.

Experience navigating higher education, finance, and HR policies in a higher education unit similar or equivalent to the UNC System or UNC-Chapel Hill.

-Administration of a self-supporting unit within a higher education institution.

- Experience with business models and translating models to accounting practices within higher education.

-Liaison with HR processes such as hiring, termination, responsibility changes, compensation changes, and issue resolution.

-Experience with finances related to credit programming, non-credit programming, facilities, and service provision.

-Supervisory experience with a demonstrated record of team support, accountability, and professional development.

- Track record of supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion across teams and processes. Campus Security Authority Responsibilities:
