Job Responsibilities
We are seeking a Data Scientist Intern to join the Equipment Intelligence team in the Deposition Product Group. Equipment Intelligence lies at the intersection of physics based modeling and troubleshooting, big data and machine learning, and advanced control systems. A Data Scientist in the Equipment Intelligence organization will join a team of highly motivated, agile engineers responsible for:
- The creation of analytics platforms leveraging big data techniques to support a global installed base of Wafer Fabrication Equipment
- Algorithm development enabling performance characterization and optimization of Wafer Fabrication Equipment
- Model building for integration of first-principles models and empirical learning
- Technical support for a global installed base of Wafer Fabrication Equipment
- Ownership of assigned tasks and projects, assuring proper release and hand-off of solutions
Other Job Responsibilities
- Interface with Hardware and Process engineers to guide the specification and development of data-driven products
- Present analysis results and findings to global customers
- Coordinate with product and engineering management to guide software development
- Work with engineers in lab settings to guide experiment design
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (complete or ongoing)
- Engineering/science background in the fields of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Physics, Computer Science, or similar
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities
- Ability to complete projects and learn the required skills with minimal guidance
- Previous experience in individual project management
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient in high level programming languages (ie Python, Julia, Matlab)
- Proficient in statistical learning / ML techniques
- Comfortable operating in distributed compute environments (cloud, HPC)
- Desire to learn in a highly multidisciplinary environment
- Able to work independently
- Able to collaborate with colleagues from a diverse range of scientific and engineering backgrounds
- Competent in the construction and presentation of slide decks containing highly complex, quantitative information
