Join our team! We are making a difference! The Bilingual Housing Navigator will work with individual residents of the Navigation Center by helping them transition into stable housing. Once residents are referred in through the Coordinated Entry Process, the housing navigator will assist the case manager in evaluating the resident's needs and identifying barriers to stable housing.
Candidates must submit application by 03/22/2024 in order to be considered for first round interviews.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required of this position.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED and two years of social service experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
Preferences given to applicants who have knowledge of/or experience working with the homeless, vulnerable or at-risk populations
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS
Candidate must pass a comprehensive MWVCAA background screening prior to employment.
Driver qualifications are required for this position. Must have a valid driver's license, insured vehicle available for use on the job, and satisfactory drive record for the previous five years.
Food Handler's Card or ability to obtain within 60 days.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITES
Basic proficiencies in computers, MS Office products, database software and web tools.
Must possess excellent planning, organization and time management skills.
Bilingual English and Spanish capabilities are required for this position.
To qualify as bilingual, staff must possess demonstrated abilities to speak, write, and read fluently in Spanish and English and pass a bilingual test. The posted hourly rate is inclusive of a 2% bilingual differential.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
Provides housing placement support by assisting clients in obtaining housing readiness documentation such as ID, social security card, and income verification; empowering participants in becoming self-sufficient and to overcome barriers to access permanent housing.
Establishes and maintains an active working relationship with: community partners, Marion/Polk County landlords, DHS - Self Sufficiency, Fresh Start, and ARCHES Resource Services.
Provides support for client-tracking, service delivery, and follow-up reporting. Maintains excellent case file management and accurate data and service transaction entry into the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
Close quarters, often with a client population experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, and/or severe and persistent mental illness, and/or unpredictable behavior.
Work time will encompass periods of sitting, standing, walking, reaching, squatting, and a variety of office work that requires ability to read, write, and type.
Frequent lifting up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Operates a motor vehicle as needed to perform duties at sites and client locations.
Occasional exposure to biohazards requiring use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, eye protection, protective clothing and shoes or boots.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires on-site work and is not eligible for remote work.
Occasional urgent situations requiring law enforcement involvement and/or paramedic professionals.
