A day in the life of a Patient Navigator, Breast Surgery at Hackensack Meridian Health may include:

• Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers
• Provides education and educational resources to patients and their families
• Supports the patient and family in coping with the psychological aspects of breast cancer
• Coordinates appointments with providers for timely delivery of diagnostic and therapeutic services
• Refers as appropriate to collaborative care areas
• Eliminates barriers for patients to optimize care
• Provides community education to raise public awareness.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• RN, (Associates, Diploma, BSN)
• 5 years nursing experience in related field (surgery/oncology)
• Good computer skills

Licenses and Certifications Required:

• NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

• Certified Breast Patient Navigator in Breast Imaging and Cancer Care.
