Job description

Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital is looking to add a 3rd full-time board-certified or board-eligible Ophthalmologist to join our team in Woburn, Massachusetts. We are looking for a talented, energetic, personable individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills, who will be a contributing member of our multi-specialty veterinary team.

MVRH's 36,000-square foot hospital, located 11 miles north of Boston, is home to one of the premier level 1 emergency and specialty centers in New England. We offer specialty care in Diagnostic Imaging, Surgery, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Oncology, Nutrition, Anesthesia and Critical Care. Our busy emergency department consists of internship-trained veterinarians who provide high quality care 24 hours per day. The hospital is supported by an in-house diagnostic laboratory with full time clinical pathologist and a compounding pharmacy. Lastly, the hospital employs a social worker who assists both staff and clients on a full-time basis.

We offer house officer training programs in surgery, neurology and diagnostic imaging.

Our equipment includes a GE Vivid E95 ultrasound, digital radiology, 64-slice Toshiba Aquilion CT, 1.5 tesla Phillips MRI, and a GE OEC 9900 C-arm, and 3 ultrasound machines (GE E95, Phillips affinity, Phillips Epiq) with small footprint high mHz probes for ophthalmology.


We have a dedicated Ophthalmology surgical suite that is supplied with following equipment:

• Phacoemulsification unit Bausch and Lomb's Stellaris

• Cryosurgery units - Frigitronics and Brymill units

• Iridex Diode laser with G-probes and an indirect headset

• Operating microscope,- Zeiss visu 200 with S8 base (newly purchased 2021)

• ERG (Acrivet / Anvision)

• Hallowell ventilator

The hospital is supported by comprehensive facilities. Other equipment to support the services of the hospital include:

• 5 tesla Philips MRI

• 64 slice Toshiba CT scanner

• Two digital radiography suites

• Three ultrasound machines- GE E95, Phillips affinity, Phillips Epiq

• Flexible and rigid endoscopy

• Fluoroscopy unit OEC 9800

• Phillips ECG telemetry system
