Job description


Directly supervise activities and personnel within the Anodizing Department in a safe and efficient manner. Responsibilities include planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Responsible for sound leadership in directing and supervising associates and monitoring and controlling production.

  1. Provide a safe and healthy work environment. Unsafe conditions or acts are to be corrected in a timely fashion. Responsible for meeting and exceeding posted safety objectives.
  2. Responsible for the quality of product within the department and throughout the plant. Provide associates with the tools, training, and process to manufacture quality product. Use teamwork and problem solving skills to continually improve processes. Meet and exceed posted quality objectives.
  3. Responsible for meeting or exceeding posted delivery performance objectives.
  4. Organize and assign work to best utilize all available skills, equipment and materials to the best advantage of the company and at the lowest cost, producing quality parts for our customers.
  5. Promote good communication and positive attitude regarding company policies, quality assurance, safety, etc. among associates and team leaders.
  6. Control, schedule and record all areas of production throughout the department on a daily basis. Maintain an adequate and efficient work force in accordance with skill requirements and react to fluctuating workloads.
  7. Monitor quality of chemicals and supplies and initiate purchase orders as necessary.
  8. Responsible for checking and recording of processing tanks as well as scheduling dumping and cleaning of tanks.
  9. Coordinate schedule for repair of equipment with Plant Services Department.
  10. Attend seminars, meetings, training classes and special technical and administrative courses to keep abreast and well informed on technical developments, new products, cost effective methods and equipment to reduce costs.
  11. Confer with other department leaders to coordinate activities related to individual departments.
  12. Coordinate and monitor policies relating to payroll, attendance, overtime, fringe benefit programs and working arrangements for associates. Maintain records and take appropriate action as required.
  13. Assist associates in analyzing and resolving work problems. Initiate or suggest plans to motivate associates to achieve work goals.
  14. Develop working knowledge of computer programs including, but not limited to, Syteline, Microsoft Excel and other PC tools. Facilitate training of associates in applicable software packages.
  15. Alternate shifts, work extended hours and report for meetings on an as-needed basis to assure production needs are being met.
  16. Perform Anodizing quoting functions for Sales and Engineering.
  17. Maintain 6S standards.

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two‑year college or technical school in manufacturing related field with course work to include related technical fields and management subjects such as leadership skills, communication, motivating, planning, etc.; and two to three years related experience and/or training in manufacturing supervisory duties; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in a leadership capacity desirable.
