Job description
Road Ranger, a growing multi-state Travel Center company, is seeking to add a Retail Technology Manager to its IT Department. Working under the supervision of the VP of IT, the Retail Technology Manager is responsible for managing all of Road Ranger’s in-unit systems and technology standards. The ideal candidate will be especially well-versed in point-of-sale technology, with a demonstrated ability to leverage both internal and external resources to maximize system uptime, maintain relevant data security measures and employ efficient problem resolution practices ensuring our business stakeholders are able to leverage their systems as efficiently and effectively as possible.
This position will play a critical role in shaping the future of our in-store technology systems and will directly oversee the technology being deployed as we aggressively expand our network of sites.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: - Full systems lifecycle management and a deep understanding of back-office systems, point-of-sale and payment technology
- Strong project management expertise with the ability to coordinate multiple vendor relationships, track costs against budget targets and ensure processes are in place to ensure consistent execution and alignment with established systems standards
- Effective communication skills and the ability to convey dates, process standards, change management, etc. through written and verbal communication across the organization, from front-line staff to executive leadership
- Review trends with reported incidents with an eye towards addressing the root cause with relevant, cost-effective recommendations
- Stay current with security best practices and key vendor lifecycle targets, ensuring proper planning, budget and resources are allocated as needed to maintain the safety and security of our environment
- Serve as a point of escalation to field management and operations leadership to ensure SLA targets are met and stakeholders are informed of upcoming change events
- Ensure systems, process and relevant troubleshooting documentation is maintained, regularly reviewed for accuracy and made available to the relevant stakeholders
- Maintain a current lab environment to effectively testing changes prior to deploying to our network of sites and ensure relevant testing, training and documentation is provided for all material change events
Skills that are helpful but not required:
- Experience supporting multiple distributed sites in a retail technology setting
- Familiarity with fueling technology, particularly fuel controllers and gas / diesel pump and payment processes
- Operating within a franchise model, particular with QSRs (Quick Serve Restaurants)
Additional info & requirements: - Hybrid role with requirement to be on-site in Schaumburg, IL weekly
- Position may occasionally (once a month or less) involve overnight travel to provide hands-on support to our network of stores throughout the Midwest
- Ability to assist with on-call support; on-call shifts require 24x7 accessibility by phone
