Cleveland Clinic Florida Research and Innovation Center (FRIC) -Flow Cytometry Director
Cleveland Clinic Florida Research and Innovation Center (FRIC) is seeking a Flow Cytometry Director who can be part of a dynamic and rapidly growing organization. The candidate will need to have advanced technical and scientific expertise in flow cytometry and cell sorting, and the ability to work collaboratively with investigators in a BSL-2 and BSL-3 research facilities. The candidate will operate all flow cytometry equipment, train users, consult on experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation and assist with the execution of experiments. Ideally, the candidate will serve as an expert resource for the implementation, management, and improvement of flow cytometry projects at FRIC.

Additionally, the Lerner Research Institute has recently opened Cleveland Clinic Florida Research and Innovation Center (FRIC) which is dedicated to the discovery and advancement of innovative translational research, focused on immuno-oncology and infectious diseases. The building is 3 floors with approximately 100,000 sq. ft. of dedicated research and support spaces. The FRIC is developing state of the art Shared Resource Laboratories in Flow Cytometry, Imaging, Bioinformatics, and a Vivarium.
As a Flow Cytometry Director, your responsibilities will be to:
&183; Operate and manage flow cytometry analyzers and cell sorters, including instrument QA/QC and scheduling.
&183; Supervise, mentor, and expertly train junior Core members.
&183; Train users for application-specific flow cytometry equipment operation in BSL2/3 environment.
&183; Advise users on experimental protocols, preparation of samples, analysis, and interpretation of data.
&183; Participate in grant and manuscript writing.
&183; Establish and maintain a flow cytometry and BSL2/BSL3 biosafety educational program for the user community.
&183; Write and implement lab policies and standard operating protocols.
&183; Responsible for the proper maintenance, alignment, calibration and troubleshooting of equipment for specific experimental requirements
&183; Stay abreast of current best practices and new technological developments in the field.
&183; Provide top-level customer service.
&183; Provide general oversight for the facility to the Director for Shared Resources.
Work Experience:
&183; Demonstrated expertise in polychromatic immunophenotyping and cell sorting, including panel design, equipment operation, data analysis and interpretation, and troubleshooting.
&183; Demonstrated ability to advise and guide investigators in multiple research projects, and assist with manuscript and grant writing.
&183; Experience in overseeing operations in a Flow Cytometry Facility, and the ability to work independently.
&183; Experience in a BSL2/BSL3 environment is highly desirable.
&183; Excellent communication and analytical skills.
Education:
&183; Ph.D. with at least three years of experience in a Flow Cytometry Core Facility is preferred for an appointment at a Director level.
&183; Masters with at least six years of experience in a Flow Cytometry Core Facility
&183; Current ASCP Board Certification for Specialist in Cytometry is highly recommended.
Physical Requirements

&183; Manual dexterity to handle specimens and repair equipment.
&183; May be required to stand for long periods of time
&183; Light lifting may be required.
&183; This position requires candidates to obtain/maintain medical clearance through Cleveland Clinic’s Occupational Health Department to work in a Biosafety Level 3 Environment (BSL3). Medical clearance including medical management is completed upon hire, transfer, and annually. This includes but is not limited to requirements for wearing respiratory protection.
