Job description

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Pediatrics, is seeking outstanding neonatologists interested in basic sciences research for the Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at UT Southwestern.

The Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine currently consists of 50 neonatologists and 12 pediatric faculty and is internationally recognized with wide areas of interest in both basic and clinical research. We are a part of the NICHD Neonatal Network and also work closely with the Center for Pulmonary & Vascular Biology. We have an outstanding training program and provide excellent clinical care at Parkland Health, Children’s Health System of Texas, Texas Health Presbyterian-Dallas and Clements University Hospital. Our system boasts 18,000 births per year and 250 NICU beds. The Thrive Program assures primary care and follow-up of very-low-birth-weight infants and other high-risk neonates, and participates in the follow-up of neonates associated with studies within the NICHD Neonatal Network. The NICU at Children’s Health serves as a Level IV referral center for neonates in North Texas and surrounding states. Active Fetal and TeleNICU Programs have been established. Pediatric faculty in the Division provides comprehensive newborn care and actively participate in research and teaching. The Division offers a variety of clinical, academic, quality improvement and administrative opportunities for candidates at all stages of their careers.

Applicants must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Texas and be board-eligible or board-certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.  Candidates with a degree or experience in genetics or genetic epidemiology and/or metabolic disorders are preferred. Candidate with research training in analysis of human diseases with bioinformatics skills will be preferred. Candidates are expected to be self-motivated and to contribute substantively to the design, implementation, interpretation and reporting of research studies.
