Job Summary:
The Infection Control Practitioner participates in institutional-wide surveillance and reporting of hospital acquired infections (HAI). The Infection Control Practitioner also, participates in the investigation of infections and/or outbreaks as needed, provides consultation services to our customers, manages the hand hygiene program, and provides targeted educational activities that will support a safe environment for internal and external customers. The position requires the ability to assist in editing the content of the Infection Prevention manual that includes the exposure control plan and the Covid-19 policies. The Infection Control Practitioner will lead and assist on quality improvement teams by providing content expertise on best-practice, providing data trends, and reports to reduce HAIs.


Minimum Qualifications:
NYS Licensed/Registered (or eligible) RN, Bachelors degree in Nursing and a minimum of 5 years related post-licensure RN experience or an Associates degree in Nursing and 7 years related post-licensure RN experience required.

Will also accept a Bachelors degree in Medical Technology, NYS licensed (or eligible) Clinical Lab Technologist and a minimum of 5 years clinical laboratory experience in a microbiology setting OR Masters in Public Health or healthcare related field and 3 years of healthcare experience. Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required.


Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree, prior experience in Infection Control or related field, and certification in Infection Control preferred.
