Job Overview
We are currently looking for a Continuous Improvement Champion to join our team in Holland. The level hired in at will be based on experience. Please be prepared to provide materials related to projects that you have done and the results.
As a Continuous Improvement Champion, you will:
Identify and implement initiatives using principles and continuous improvement process of the Haworth Management System (equivalent to Toyota Production System). Manage project and assure programs are of high quality. Process work will be required across every segment of value stream. Teach and facilitate lean transformation in both the office and manufacturing environments. Coordinate meetings and kaizen events for improvements and be involved as both a leader and facilitator, with the overall goal to drive reduction of waste from both process and quality standpoints. Support the Steel value stream in designing the future, applying, and coaching Mixed Model Value Stream design principles in a high growth-potential area.
Job Responsibilities
- Implement HMS (Haworth Management System) principles to drive continuous improvement across every functional area.
- Spend significant time with teams to facilitate implementation of HMS (Haworth Management System), identify production flow, identify sequence of events, and define constraints or continuous improvement opportunities.
- Deliver foundational skills training to team members and actively coaches members to integrate skills into HMS (Haworth Management System) process to ensure success of programs.
- Evaluate effectiveness of training and assures appropriate revisions are made, ensuring processes support corporate policy in areas of health, safety, and environmental assurance.
- Analyze program progress, utilizing problem solving, surveys, and assessments to understand areas for continuous improvement of HMS (Haworth Management System) Programs.
- Assist with coordinating and planning resources for training, including preparing and ordering training materials, scheduling, and budget management.
- Contact and travel to manufacturing locations, universities, and seminars to obtain information relative to HMS (Haworth Management System) processes, implementation techniques, and process assessment, to continuously improve state-of-the-art knowledge of techniques. Shares information with other members, via training and/or day-to-day contact.
- Report periodically to Senior Continuous Improvement Champion and/or Manager regarding team performance, implementation schedules, performance to measures, and assessments of status of HMS and/or Continuous Improvement Process.
- Value-stream mapping
- Facilitating Kaizen events
- Identify and eliminate barriers to continuous improvement
Do you have these required qualifications?
- Bachelor’s degree or in lieu of degree, 2 years of additional work experience is required for every 1 year of education not completed
- Minimum 6 years production/operations/engineering/continuous improvement experience, with demonstrated deployment of HMS/TPS type concepts that drive improvements in operationally excellent environment
- Ability to be regularly exposed to production environment
- Must have the ability to become proficient in company systems, processes, and tools
- Current and continuing right to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Ability to work and commute onsite daily to our headquarters in Holland, MI without relocation assistance
Do you have these preferred qualifications?
- 3 or more years leadership experience
- Lean manufacturing industry experience
- Vizio, Excel, Macros, data interpretation analysis experience
Ideally, you have also demonstrated the following:
- Proven leadership in managing people, projects, resources, and complexity, achieving measurable results
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, facilitation, problem-solving, and planning skills
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to present and tour all levels of the organization
- Have led at least 10 continuous improvement projects and/or formal Kaizen events
- Value Stream Design
- Standard Work and Job Instruction
- Scientifically guided problem solving, such as Plan Do Check Act methodology, at a project level
- Kaizen Event planning, facilitation, and follow through
- Visual factor
- Work balancing and manufacturing cell design
- Hands on experience with Toyota Production System (TPS)
