Sr. Preconstruction Manager - Estimating

Job description
As Senior Preconstruction Manager - Estimating, you will support preconstruction phase pricing for diverse transportation and aviation infrastructure projects throughout North America. Additionally, you will support overarching preconstruction efforts in both established and new target markets, leveraging your experience within a cross-functional team environment.
- Reviews proposal specifications, drawings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Reviews and incorporates historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and person-hour figures.
- Provides technical and industry knowledge towards risk, contract management, owner relationships and vendor or subcontractor partnerships.
- Organizes and supervises estimating teams to prepare bids, select vendors or subcontractors and determine cost effectiveness of project to bid.
- Prepares discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work. Calculates material quantity requirements from engineering drawing dimensions.
- Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Partners with estimating team to prepare and conduct project hand-off meetings between pursuit team and project management team.
- Works with design managers to develop the best possible technical solution.
- Maintains knowledge of Company’s values and strategic plan.
- Support published corporate policies.
- Perform additional assignments per management’s direction.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- 10+ years’ construction industry experience related to project pursuits, including estimating, project management or business development required.
- 5+ years' experience estimating heavy-civil transportation projects required.
- Chief Estimator experience preferred.
- Alternative delivery experience required.
- Knowledge and understanding of construction strategy and contracts, clients and sub-contract negotiations.
- Understand strategy and contracts, clients and sub-contract negotiations.
- Knowledge and understanding of constructability.
- Able to identify and interpret risk strategies.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills required.
- Demonstrated experience leading partnering and teaming agreements.
- Understanding of cost estimating practices, development and implementation.
- Strong communication and organizational skills required.
