Copy Manager

As the Manager, Copy, for Home, you’ll elevate customer perceptions about Walmart’s home dept. through on-the-pulse multichannel storytelling.
As a writer/people manager at Walmart, you’ll oversee the vision ’ s execution—and on any given day, week, campaign , or asset, that vision will vary. Y ou’ll regularly come up with breakthrough creative ideas while framing the narratives and relationships that sell them. You’ll help identify , foster, and allocate creative talent within the team to meet a variety of current and future creative needs as the strategic sounding board and mentor for the Home writing team.
You’re adept at all things campaign and current: you can write short , trend-driven home videos in a pinch , have multiple writing tools in your kit , and are plugged in—and excited—about all things home . And y our portfolio reflects this. You will report to the Style Creative Director, Copy.
Essential f unctions:
Clears hurdles so the team meets every deadline and can craft best-in-class creative at all times.
Serves as a thought leader to elevate all work.
Accountable for necessary (and sometimes difficult) partner communications and creative optimization.
Player/coach who proactively—and positively—mentors and develops team talent, filling in as a writer only as needed.
Creates and delivers impactful presentations by partnering with designers and confidently speaks to creative choices when presenting.
Provide supervision and development opportunities for copywriters within your vertical/campaigns by editing, sharing constructive feedback, assigning work, and providing support and recognition.
Keep up with industry trends, best practices, and the competitive landscape, as well as collaborate with creative leadership, business owners, and other cross-functional stakeholders to translate business objectives into actionable marketing messages.
Adhere to and contribute to the evolution of the Walmart brand tone of voice and Walmart copy style guide.
Ability to work autonomously and self-manage, as well as collaborate closely.
Positive, collaborative work ethic and willingness to roll up your sleeves to do what it takes to get the job done, i.e., a high EQ.
(Acts as a thought partner to external agencies to ensure the work aligns with our brand guidelines and marketing goals— when needed.)
Minimum Qualifications:
B A in Journalism , Creative Writing, Advertising, or related field and 5 years of experience in copywriting OR 7+ years of experience copywriting.
7+ years of experience developing copy concepts/campaigns.
5+ years of creative agency and/or editorial experience with video focus.
5+ years of experience copywriting in a retail environment.
5+ years of experience managing copywriters.
