Overview



Civil and environmental engineering research at Princeton addresses fundamental questions associated with the built environment, the natural environment, and interactions between the two. Focus areas include design of civil engineering systems; water resources and the hydrologic cycle, civil engineering materials, environmental and structural monitoring; air quality and water quality; urban environments, including smart cities; the impacts of climate change on water resources and natural hazards; impacts of energy technology on the environment; and structural art and design.





Responsibilities



-Design, implement, and maintain hardware and software systems related to sensors for humidity, temperature, pH, chemical, and other measures. 30%

-Install, configure, and test sensor systems. 20%

-Work with team members to prototype integrated systems. 20%

-Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to hardware and software systems. 10%

-Perform electrical wiring for sensor systems as needed. 10%

-Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely and successful completion of projects. 5%

-Develop and maintain technical documentation for hardware and software systems. 5%





Qualifications



Required

-Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field

-At least 2 years of experience in hardware/software integration, with a focus on sensors

-Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, or R is preferred

-Familiarity with sensor technologies and protocols, including I2C, SPI, and RS232/485

-Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills

-Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
