Job description

This is a pipeline position intended for recent job fair on July 8th.

BAE Systems, Norfolk Ship Repair is hiring Handypersons to support the Plate Shop.

Position Summary:
Handypersons help and assist mechanics with their key roles and responsibilities. Handypersons are expected to have an intermediary knowledge of key roles and responsibilities as well as functional knowledge specific to their trade. Handypersons must also have demonstrated the ability to perform all tasks of Handyperson, Helper (1st & 2nd) and show a desire to learn new tasks.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Required Education, Experience, & Skills :

Minimum Education: High Diploma/GED
Minimum Relevant Experience: 6 months to 1.5 yrs.

Set up and perform basic shipfitting tasks

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Optional Trainings:
Firewatch certification (All trades, where applicable)
First Aid Responder (All trades, where applicable)
CPR Trained (All trades, where applicable)
Aerial Lift Certified (specified by shop management)
Forklift Training (specified by shop management)

Pay Information
This position is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which will determine your wages.
