PURPOSE
The Distribution Center Manager is charged with directing all aspects of operating the Distribution Center including receiving material, putting material away, picking and packing and shipping material and managing the paper work and electronic work flow required.
Job Duties
- Supervise, train, develop and evaluate a team of material handlers, clerks, shipping personnel and other administrative associates as they are assigned
- Establish, report and drive continuous improvement of all KPI’s associated with managing the DC
- Focus on improving and maintaining customer on time fill rate and overall fill rate as required by the business
- Work closely with the Logistics department to ensure the appropriate carriers are used in the appropriate shipping lanes to minimize cost and maximize performance
- Create and maintain a customer-focused environment with a commitment to superior customer service
- Constantly look for opportunities to improve the functions in the DC and be willing to share and accept best practices across the DC’s in BBB.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field preferred
Minimum experience
- 3-5 years of experience in Warehouse & Distribution, Supply Chain or related field required
- Previous supervisory and / or leadership experience preferred
- Basic technical knowledge and working experience with Oracle preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel and Word
- Strong analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization, to clearly articulate relevant ideas, opinions and information
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, and across teams where necessary, to develop relationships throughout the company and to work collaboratively
- Ability to effectively supervise and motivate employees
