Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Consultant to provide full-service Human Resources support and administration to the business and our 80-90 team members. Primary responsibilities include supporting the Martins team locally with day-to-day operations while acting as a liaison for corporate Human Resources initiatives and support. Incumbent will maintain a high level of confidentiality through all aspects of the role. This is a 6-month assignment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruitment and Pre-Employment:
- Answers calls/questions about open positions and explains requirements.
- Pre-Employment screening, including but not limited to: sending applications, completing references, processing background checks, scheduling drug tests, physical exams, required medical tests, etc.
- Assists with completing applications.
- Schedule and facilitate interviews.
- Coordinate and attend college recruitment and career fairs.
- Prepares and maintains an updated bank of detailed job descriptions and performance metrics in collaboration with managers.
- New Hire Processing:
- Creates and maintains employee personnel files.
- New hire processing, including, but not limited to: data entry, reporting, management of files, distribution of documents, follow up on requirement documents, etc.
- Administers new employee onboarding:
- Schedules and conducts new hire orientation on first day of employment
- Ensure all new hire paperwork is completed including I9
- Ensure safety and applicable trainings are completed
- Reports new hires to Department of Taxation and Finance.
- Completes E-Verify for new employees.
- Collaborates closely with Safety and Risk to update and maintain MRO lists, USFCMA portal, etc.
- Manage new hire drug testing program.
- Benefits Administration:
- Benefits Administration including maintaining and distributing benefit guides, collecting enrollment forms and submitting to carrier, communicating terminations and COBRA administration.
- Assist with Annual Open Enrollment including communication to employees and collecting/submitting benefit forms.
- Answering benefit questions or directing employees to appropriate personnel.
- Full cycle administration of company leave and PTO program including management of time, entry, annual resets, etc.
- Training and Development:
- Manage the various state trainee and apprenticeship programs, including establishing and maintaining an education provider network, actively filling roles and ensuring full-cycle compliance
- Schedule various employee certification classes and exams with employees.
- Confirming enrollment with employees
- Tracking/communicating results
- Assist corporate HR with coordination and set up of corporate and local trainings
- EEO Compliance:
- Serves as company EEO Officer.
- Manage VDOT (VA Department of Transportation) inquiries, requirements and attend meetings as necessary.
- Conduct EEO training.
- EEO Reporting.
- Managers all posting requirements and distributions of notices.
- EEO tracking including applicant, referral, bonus, etc. to ensure compliant.
- Employee Relations
- Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns.
- Provide guidance to managers in resolving conflict and addressing performance concerns with direct reports.
- Manage employee terminations when advised.
- Administrative Duties:
- Annual HR & Payroll document audits (W4, E-Verify/I9)
- Assist with company events (collection/tracking RSVPs).
- Coordinate company meetings.
- Process employment verifications.
- Miscellaneous:
- Liaison to corporate HR and assist where needed.
- Bi-lingual support across all Posillico entities.
- Miscellaneous Payroll and Human Resources duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bi-lingual; English/Spanish speaking preferred. Strong Spanish writing skills preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field plus 5+ years administrative HR experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, strong Excel and Adobe.
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with corporate HR team in NY.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Strong customer-service orientation.
- Ability to work directly with unions and senior management.
- Ability to maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
Reports to : Corporate HR, Vice President of Human Resources, servicing the Martins Chief Operating Officer. Direct collaboration with Controller.
Location : Falls Church, VA
Compensation: Commensurate with experience.
