SAIC, a leading Fortune 500 company, is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our team as an IT Intern focused on computer networking. This internship opportunity offers valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic and collaborative environment, working alongside experienced professionals in the field of computer networking. This position will allow you to work in conjunction with teammates ranging from Engineers, Support Analysts, and Security Assessors to ensure availability, performance, and quality of the systems/services and who are responsible for the day-to-day and continuous administration, monitoring, and compliance of classified network(s), systems, and services in accordance with customer-defined frameworks (i.e. RMF/NIST800-171).
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of computer networks.
- Support network infrastructure setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure network security and data integrity.
- Assist in the installation and configuration of network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Monitor network performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Participate in network-related projects and initiatives.
- Provide technical support to end-users for network-related issues.
- Document network configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in computer networking.
- Learn and assist to maintain Security, Regulatory, and Corporate policies/compliance requirements and implementations of technology in support of those controls. (STIGs, CONOPS, POA&M, etc.)
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High School and three (3) or more years of college coursework in a technical field
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of computer networking principles and protocols.
- Familiarity with network devices, such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other network protocols is a plus.
- Proficiency in problem-solving.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
